O chamado: a ética do trabalho segundo John Locke

Resumo

Este artigo pretende desafiar interpretações tradicionais sobre o papel da idéia de trabalho nos argumentos lockeanos para a apropriação privada, explorando em textos secundários as raízes religiosas e morais da noção. Conclui que não se resume a esforço físico, nem à produção de valor de troca no mercado, mas diz respeito a um ideal robusto e exigente de florescimento humano, de dimensão material e intelectual, que traz implicações ambíguas ao argumento central e coloca em cheque sua capacidade de justificar arranjos específicos de propriedade.
