Abstract

The authors report the finding of an endemic area of Cutaneous Leishmaniasis in a mountain region of the Municipio de Jacupiranga, on the South of the State of São Paulo, Brazil. They have observed four active cases with cutaneous lesions, a case that was already treated at the Hospital of Santa Casa of Santos and three cases having cicatricial lesions with positive intradermical reaction of Montenegro. Mucous lesions were not found. By this finding, in a region of the State that was considered until now as having not that parasitosis, the authors call attention to need of an epidemiological study in all the State of São Paulo, Brazil.
