Abstract

A hemagglutination test for demonstrating antibodies in sera of rabbits imunized by inhalation of cotton fibers was described. This test involves the use of rabbit red cells coupled to an antigen obtained from those fibers, after treatment with tannic-acid and bis-diazo-benzidine. Normal erythrocytes without any treatment were also used. The experiments sugest the hexosaminic nature of the antigen extracted and its possible relation with endotoxin of Gram-negative bacteria from cotton fibers.
