Abstract

By placing itself in the aesthetic convergence of Romanticism and Realism, the Brazilian soap opera has been doing its best in order to provide its imagined events with "real life effects", whose descent could be traced down to the craft of imaginative fiction. Then, putting together romantic themes and representative realism, the telenovela is a fiction show staged in television in which the powers of imagination and the reality inherent to imaginary creation will meet. That's why telenovelas are kept in high regards by a loyal and true audience.
