Abstract

Francisco de Paula Rodrigues Alves (1848-1919) was the President of the Republic of Brazil from 1902 to 1906. The house where he lived in Guaratinguetá, a city located in the State of São Paulo, was built using the taipa technique in the mid-19th century and is listed as a heritage site in both Federal and State levels. We examined historical contents from cultural heritage institutions between the 1960s and the early 21st century, including documentation of the cultural heritage listing process and of some events related to the conservation of this cultural asset.
