The objective of this article analyzes the presence of the voices that make up the fictional paratexts in the textual composition of Mia Couto 's novel Vinte e zinco (1999), based on the relation between the epigraphs and the narrative theme. Gerard Genette's (2010) theoretical assumptions provide insights into the meaningful effects that these "accessory signals" provide to the text, from the look that fiction directs to historical time staged.Downloads
