This work aims to analyze the Brazilian literary project through the novel Iracema (1865), written by José de Alencar, and the historical novel contextualized in the Upper Amazon region, written by the author from Bahia, Lourenço da Silva Araújo Amazonas, published in 1857 under the title of Simá - as support for understanding and metaphorical representation of the Brazilian identity construction.
