Abstract

This paper intends to explore the manner in which, according to Georges Bataille, the human beings ensured their endurance by subjecting themselves to the tension between transgression and forbidden, and by avoiding total subjection to violence and subjection to the desire for annihilation.  It also highlights the way in which the artistic creation and the literary approach together, enable us to fulfil an oblique and indirect achievement of this desire, which remains and pulsates intensively inside us. Under this author’s perspective, arts and literature come towards our deepest longing for happiness:  the surpassing of fixed identities, the fusion with the boundless.
