Abstract

The present text seeks to highlight the philosophical nature of the choice, the way of life and the courageous ideas and attitudes of Hyparchia of Maroneia in abandoning her family and its hometown, the aristocratic social class, the role of wife-mother-governess of the house in order to live the canine philosophy. Such attitudes make this philosopher a questioner not only of social customs, along with the Cynics, but of the role of women, taking Cynic philosophy to the ultimate proof of its radicality.
