Abstract

Kamo no Chômei5s altitude of living in “artiste retreat” and his work Hôjôki, 1212, reflect not only his individual past,but also the end of Heian period (794-1185) and the decline of aristocracy,as well as his interprétation of Buddhism through émotions such as nostalgia, escape and ephemerality mujô.
