In this paper we discuss, within an Eurocentric perspective, the changes brought by globalization in the context of research in Social Sciences (Appadurai, 2001; Meneses e Santos, 2011). Ten we refect on the epistemological challenges arising from these changes, focusing on the feld of Communication Science in Ibero-American and Lusophone space (Melo, 2011; Barros, 2011). We also discussed the hegemony of a unique thought in Communication Studies established inside the Western research, and questioned its capacity to interpret and ofer “solutions” to local and regional challenges.Downloads
