Abstract

This article aims to (re)construct the history of the São José’s neighborhood, located in the city of Campina Grande - PB, from the perspective of Individual Memory of their older residents. Given that it is, above all, the personal history of each individual who determines how they are perceived and practiced the spaces that make up your daily life. Thus, the city, and therefore all their environments are multifaceted, insofar as they are grasped by different subjectivities. From this perspective, memory functions as an essential element in the relationship of the individual with the place, understood as the site of the intersubjective existence. Through the experiences lived in the neighborhood are established ties of belonging and identity, which are important in the understanding of historical processes that involve the same.
