In Brazilian sports there are only a small number of women working as coaches. In this context, this study aimed to identify and analyze the barriers that Brazilian female coaches encounter when pursuing a coaching career. Participants were 13 female coaches from 8 different sports. Data were collected through semi structured interview. The main challenges faced by Brazilian female coaches were male dominance, prejudice, conflict between personal and professional life, and low salaries. In conclusion, this study demonstrated that female coaches face many barriers, which limit the presence of women in coaching in Brazilian sports.Downloads
