Abstract

This paper is a presentation of an historical research about a work published in Brazil on 1930’s and used as official guide for military corps: the Regulation no. 7 of Physical Education – French Method. The main goal of this paper is to study the historical implementation of Regulation no. 7, listing its main methodological points to try to understand in which bases it was built in the Brazilian context, considering, in the same time, the political and commercial contemporary interests which gave another meaning for this regulation during the studied period. The chosen corpus is compound of Regulation no. 7 of Physical Education and its original version in French – Règlement Général d’Éducation Physique –, and also by complementary bibliography. The corpus was analyzed according to the following criteria: organization and selection of the studied corpus, deep description of selected references, research of the references and interpretation of selected bibliography to find the most expressive contents. In the conclusion, it’s clear that the implementation of this resolution in Brazil was based on nationalist discourse, inspired by European models of civility and modernity, with the aim of unifying the method of physical education in the country.
