PRIVATE RESERVE NATURAL HERITAGE FOR SUBSIDIZES PLANNING LANDSCAPE IN MANDIRITUBA COUNTY, PR

Abstract

This study aimed to show areas for the establishment of Private Reserves Natural Heritage in the Mandirituba County, Paraná. It was  conducted a mapping of areas with potential for establishment this type protected area using criteria related to the type of vegetation cover, soil type, slope, land use and cover. In ENVI 4.8 software was held to automatic supervised classification of land cover and use, while the other maps and quantification of the results were obtained using the software ArcGIS 10. The intersection of thematic maps using the technique “map algebra” originated the map of the different levels of capability and is classified as: null, low, medium and high, according with local environmental characteristics. The results showed that 21.2% of the territory had high potential, 40.5% had potential, 8.1% had low potential and 30.2% had null potential to constitute RPPN’s. The study identified the most sensitive portions of the municipal territory and becoming protected areas can contribute to the preservation of natural resources that are threatened by the permittivity of the new Forest Code.
