Abstract

Starting from an analysis of the epistemological role of cartography in relation to the complexity of the world, analysis which tries to deny the interpretation that the map simplifies the complex, the article emphasizes that the most important issue in the cartography teaching remains being the lack of connection between the cartographic practices and the theories in its geographic world. The article tries to show that trough the contemporaneous example of the globalization process, process which demands new elaborations in the geography field for its understanding, and also a world map renovation, whose conventional version is incompatible with the new realities which are creating a real world dimension.
