Abstract

Interview originally published in Jornal Coral da União, an organ that promotes the activities of the Brazil-United States Cultural Union Choir, Year I, numbers 6 and 7, 1994, edited by João Luís Rosa. The interview was carried out by Marcos Câmara de Castro and Moira Labbate, at the Municipal Theater of São Paulo. Always surrounded by people, and laughing loudly, maestro Kerr offers a cup of coffee, in his office, before the interview begins.

    Marcos Câmara de Castro is an associate professor in the Department of Music at the Faculty of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters of Ribeirão Preto at the University of São Paulo; managing editor of Revista da Tulha, professor at Coral da Filô, Musical Education and Ethnomusicology.

    Master in Music from Unesp - Universidade Estadual Paulista (2012-2014) with the theme: "The contribution of singing to the actor's spoken voice". Bachelor in Conducting from the Unesp Arts Institute (1999). Vocal trainer for actors at Ônix Elenco. Since 2015 she has been Vocal Preparator in the Choir of the Diocese of Santo Amaro. Since 2002, she has been providing vocal preparation and diction for voice professionals. Between 1999 and 2009 she was singer and section leader at the Collegium Musicum in São Paulo (conductor: Abel Rocha). Responsible for the subject "Singing for the Actor" at Escola Recriarte (2002-2005). She created and directed "Madrigal Arcadelt", specializing in Renaissance music (1997-2009). Between 1994 and 2007 he was the conductor of several choirs, among them: "Coral do Conservatório Mário de Andrade", "Coral da Fatec" - Faculdade de Tecnologia de São Paulo, "Coral da Rectoria - Unesp" and "Coral da FFLCH" - Faculdade of Philosophy, Literature and Human Sciences at Usp. Between 1989 and 1991 she was a scholarship holder of the "Coral do Estado de São Paulo" (conductor: José Ferraz de Toledo).
