Abstract

A study was made of the relationship between heart girth measurement and live weight of 1.029 Caracú females of the Fazenda de Seleção do Gado Nacional, Nova Odessa, São Paulo State. Caracú is a nacional breed. The data was cathaloged by age and ranged 288 one year females, 265 two years females, 197 three years females, 175 four years females and 104 five years females. The coefficients of correlation between heart girth and live weight were 0,729 for one year, 0,763 for tioo years, 0,712 for three years, 0,948 for all ages. A calculation of the regression coefficients was made. Table IV shows the weights calculated for each age and for all ages of Caracú females.
