Eighty dairy farms in 12 different regions of the São Paulo state had their cows randomly sampled twice for serum Selenium, both in raining and dry seasons. Results showed that with exception of region n° 8 (Vale do Ribeira). 78% of the sampled cows had low Selenium levels, being that considered deficient. Results, suggested that is necessary not only to look for possible relations between Selenium deficiencies and reproductive problems, but also to study the better way to supply Selenium to the dairy herds.
