Abstract

In discussing certain historical and musical aspects related to the period of samba configuration as popular urban music, this article brings data and reflections about the process of insertion of the drumset – instrument originated in the jazz universe – in the Brazilian musical genre, and its interlocutions with the instrumental considered  typical, formed by tambourins, surdos, cuícas, ganzás, recos and agogôs.
