In this article, a general view is given of the Russian and Soviet contribution to the Structuralist Method in the study of Language with particular emphasis on the works of E.M. Meletinsky and V.V. Ivanov, published in Brazil thanks to the cooperation of the teaching staff of the Curso de Russo da Universidade de São Paulo.
