Abstract

The current translation brings to the Brazilian public an unprecedented material by the Jewish-Russian critic and theorist Boris Mikhailovitch Eikhenbaum (1886-1959). Known mainly for his important contributions to the Formalist movement, the training and life of the critic is still unknown to the general public. In these translated texts, Eikhenbaum speaks briefly about his provincial childhood, his move to Petersburg and his academic background.
