This article proposes to apply the Great Refusal, a key-concept in the studies of German philosopher Herbert Marcuse, to the film production that was inspired by the événements of May 68. The article is based on the short film Actua 1 (1968), directed by Philippe Garrel, Serge Bard and Patrick Deval and its use of travelling. In this film, travelling is used as a tool to emancipate the spectator who faces a unidimensional society that castrates him.
