Abstract

The research of time spent on activities is a recourse of exact indication which gives definite advantages to industrial organizations. This work is an attempt to carry out a similar study to ascertain lhe time spent in lhe activities of a Health Center; however, in order to appreciate lhe peculiarities of a Health Center, various important modifications were dovetailed into lhe technique o! research and so, instead of checking on lhe time spent on a simple operation, an analysis was made of lhe distribution of a large number of activities within lhe Health Center. Thus it was possible to obtain a photograph of how the activities on a Health Center were distributed during a week. One person (lhe informer) was charged with the responsability of timing ali his activities, and this was preceded by a lengthy and careful instruction on ali employees concerned in lhe research. Emphasis was stressed to interest ali employees that their aclive participation in lhe research was of paramount importance. We consider that, whislt it is not possible to apply more precise technique to lhe study, more especialiy if lhe employee is freed as an agent of lhe research, the technique adopted by us can supply substantial contributions to lhe efficiency of lhe work, provided there is indication for it, there is time available for lhe analyst, and that there is the cooperation of ali responsiblc persons where lhe activities of the health unity are concerned.
