Call for papers - aSPAs Journal 2015-2016

2014-12-01

The aSPAs Journal presents the thematic sections of 2015-2016 editions. We try to reaffirm our commitment with the diffusion of the most recent researches in Performing Arts and we try to map its main advances, with focus on the methodologies employed.

We take the opportunity to call the authors to submit their articles to aSPAs Journal 5.1.

Edition 5.1 - We will receive, until January 15th, 2014, unpublished scientific papers for the thematic section: THEORY AND PRACTICE IN PERFORMING ARTS RESEARCH

The edition has as a proposal to map the researches produced in Brazil that proceed from the tight relation between theory and practice of Performing Arts. Having this goal in mind, we propose some sub-themes that seem recurring in the current debates:

- Staging and pedagogy in contemporary theater;

- New methodologies of creation in the actor’s work;

- Performance and politics in Brazil;

- Improvisational practices in the theatre;

- Pedagogical practices for teaching theater direction;

These sub-themes do not exclude the possibility of submitting articles that have other points of view about relations between theory and practice of theater. It is expected that within the amplitude of the theme, the authors have success in demonstrating the different methodologies that have been used in researches on theater.

5.2 – The submissions must be made from 01/16/2015 to 04/15/2015

Thematic section: Dramaturgy and History of the Brazilian Performing Arts

aSPAs Journal 5.2 proposes to the researchers of Performing Arts a glance at the Brazilian production of theory, history and dramaturgy. How to actually map this production? Could we talk about a Brazilian Performing Arts theory, dramaturgy or history having in mind its multiplicity and diversity? What is the most appropriate methodology to approach these themes? These are some of the questions we want to see discussed in the published articles.

5.2 – The submissions must be made from 04/16/2015 to 07/15/2015

Thematic section: The contemporary spectator

The spectator has increasingly consolidated itself as the center of contemporary arts practices. Watching a play, alone in a car or in group at a great theater, taking or not part of the action; it is definitely a figure who has the protagonism of the scene. But who is this spectator? How we could approach its scene reading practice, its emotions and experiences? What is its real role in theater? These are some of the main questions this edition introduces to the authors who research the spectator of today.
