Abstract

Attention is called to the importance of previous testing of basal metabolism apparatus, stressing the merit of the alcohol check method. The results obtained with the latter in a closed circuit apparatus, employing Benedict's device, are presented. Next, a modification of Benedict's device is described, which makes possible the gravimetric determination of the alcohol consumed. The results obtained with this modification are given.
