The paper draws a partial theoreticalapproach to the studies of (and with) children in the
social sciences – particularly in anthropology. While
this does not intend to be complete, it is able to cover
parts of Brazilian, European and American academic
production; with a focus on the intersection with
religious studies. This text is based on my doctoral
studies as the research which informs this bibliogra-
phical account was undertaken as part of these stu-
dies. However, this paper wishes to raise some generic
anthropologic discussions, such as the definition and
use of concepts like culture and society.
