Abstract

This article aims to comment on certain aspects about the 40s and 50s in São Paulo regarding the habits of going to the movies. The movie-goers of that time talk to about the importance of the cinemas and their projection-rooms in that period, especially the most luxurious and modern ones, always associated with the city center, whose area was occupied by commerce, and spare-time opportunities like the movies and the confectionery’s. It is possible perceive at this moment the development of consumption often related to the notion of the modernization of the country.
