Abstract

Heinz von Foerster is biologist, physicist and mathematician. He is the creator of the Second Order Cybernetics, where he sets off the observer's position. He applied himself to the study of the brain and the perception. He states that the brain does not perceives any light, colors, sounds, heat or images and that the mind does only catch electromagnetic waves, that is, intensities. It is the brain who "calculates" these perceptions. Regarding communication, says von Foerster that words, symbols and messages do not take part in communication, they are just their "technologies". The information does not exist. It is just a probability that occurs only as relational process, as product of an activity.
