Abstract

One of the signifi cant trends in Black African literature, with special emphasis on black-African literature of French expression, is to privilege fi ction from history, with literature being a tool of resistance and struggle to liberate colonial miseries. The intention of this literature
born of the impetus to change stereotypes and to rehabilitate the image of the black continent is in fact to rewrite its own history, which will not be interpreted as a mere annexation of Western history. Based on these considerations, the purpose of this work is to propose a discussion about the course of black-African literature of French expression that has formedboth inside and outside the African continent. Although produced in the language of the colonizer, it infl uenced the awakening of the revolutionary consciousness of the colonized and also contributed to the deconstruction of the hegemonic discourse that the West has always endeavored to impose as the only one that can legitimately be maintained on the black continent.
