Abstract

The city of Sorocaba has a very rich historical past with regard to the popular, The fairs of mules, for example was also the time when the drovers met, and joined in the celebrations of popular religiosity, such as cavalcades of the Divine Holy Ghost Party. The Party was held in the church of Our Lady of the Bridge (patron saint), and involved a procession of Pentecost with the Flag of the Divine, representing the Emperor, and the Empress, ans symbols such as the silver crown and scepter, and the kermis. Today, the Divine Holy Ghost Party is decentralized (or multiplied) by the parishes of Sorocaba. The investigations is guided to understand the transformations which the Party has gone Through, focusing on the honor of the Divine organized today bye the Heralds of Pentecost.
