This article reports methodological aspects of the restructuring process of the YouTube Edu platform, from analyzing more than a thousand new videos, in an interface between Education and Communication. The aim is to understand: (1) forms of content production; (2) characteristics of the producing subjects; and (3) circulation and offer of educational content in a digital environment. With a quantitative and qualitative approach, the research technique used was action research. The results show no single model for producing educational content for digital platforms in Brazil, and its uses follow circulation criteria, collaborative principles, and formatting established by the platform. Progress related to aspects of diversity, gender and inclusion, and the academic training of teachers were highlighted, alongside a need for progress on issues of social exclusion and the protagonism of the student.
