The aim of this article is to analyze the images of food in Voltaire’s narrative work, to show how these images are an important instrument for his ethical reflection. I will try to show how, through the fiction, Voltaire exposes his point of view on three philosophical issues: i) the interdependence of physical dimension and moral dimension; ii) the opposition between nature and culture (aspect which finds its exemplification in the opposition between vegetarianism and meat diet); iii) and the political effects of conviviality.Downloads
