This paper means to speculate how the “spinster” gains voice and representation while playing leading roles in short stories. To support this analysis, the short stories Miss Algrave, by Clarice Lispector, Sr. Diretor, by Lygia Fagundes Telles and Príncipe Sapo, by Caio Fernando Abreu, are studied and analysed through the optical of three thematics plains: interdiction, eroticism and solitude. As motivacional theorist elements, this paper will considerate the eroticism perceptions according to Octavio Paz, the historiographic studie about the “spinster” by Claudia Maia, and the concept of “texto tagarelice” by Roland Barthes.
