This paper aims to reflect on the role of the reader in the process of signification of Osman Lins’ A Rainha dos Cárceres da Grécia. By analyzing the narrator’s interpretation of the homonym novel, written by his former lover, it will be shown how, when he is no longer concerned with the search for her authorial intention, the creativity of the literary reading becomes evident.
