Abstract

THIS TEXT aims to present and discuss the challenges related to the use of categories such as skin color and race for affirmative action programs in education. It describes the procedures adopted by the Ford Foundation's International Graduate Scholarship Program and compares the results with data obtained from the Monthly Job Survey analyzed by Petruccelli (2001).
