The present article aims at thinking of the potential of images as a creation and experimentation field in education. Along with the difference philosophies, transversal movements triggered by a cartographic investigative strategy and the problematic: what can images do in the midst of tracing planes of immanence and composition? The present study problematizes the investigative and educational experiences the authors have encountered during the undergraduate and graduation levels, mobilizing one of them specifically to operate as the materiality of the present text. This experimentation, produced during a class, with a group of students in a teaching degree in visual arts in a university in the south of Brazil, is operated in a way of making explicit some machinery that moved the group during this production, as well as others that also emerged during the writing of this article by three pairs of hands. Without the intention of illustrating and prescribing ways of relating to the images, and taking the image by its plural potentiality, detached from a representative meaning and a single form of relation, we aim at producing openings for (im)possible ways of creation with images in education, and, also, leaving loose threads, as bait for other possibilities that might still work with them. These threads express what was not possible to capture in images and writing, mists that rose in the composition produced and that continue, therefore, in potential, waiting for other encounters.
