Abstract

The article proposes that the essence of prevention in early childhood is related to the function of the adult that supports the child´s subjectivity, which involves anticipation and constitutive interpretation. It discusses a certain practice of preventing that builds grids and scales searching to identify and detect signs of risk, as a tentative to control the anxiety before the emptiness that the unpredictable, elusive, imperfect raise. Early prevention is proposed as listening and monitoring of individuals, not as detection and prediction, from the perspective of psychopathology, which considers the subjectivity and uniqueness of each story.
