Journal History:

In 2006, the publication of a series of volumes was published containing a selection of works elaborated in the Meetings of Philosophy and History of Biology.

Two years later, the Brazilian Association of Philosophy and History of Biology (ABFHiB) took the decision to transform this publication into a periodical (annual bulletin), with a permanent editorial board, in order to guarantee the continuity of this initiative and expand the reach of the Publication.

The new journal, which kept the name Philosophy and History of Biology, was registered within the Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology (IBICT) and the ISSN 1983-053X was called for its printed publication.

In 2010, the publication started to be published every six months, and also acquired an electronic version, presented here, with ISSN 2178-6224.

In 2020 the journal became part of the set of publications of the Interunit Center for the History of Science (CHC) at USP and became part of the USP Journal Portal.

The journal accepts unpublished manuscripts in Portuguese, Spanish or English, publishing articles originating from original research concerning the philosophy and / or history of biology and its epistemic interfaces, such as history and philosophy of biology and scientific education.
