Abstract

This article aims to analyse a multimodal narrative based on non-verbal communication studies, especially manual gestures and gaze direction. As a theoretical background, we have used Gesture Studies and Gaze Direction Studies considering their relation with Cognitive Linguistics. In order to demonstrate how these articulators are set in narrative contexts in Brazilian Portuguese, we have selected a multimodal narrative of the Brazilian Tv Show “Que História é Essa, Porchat?”. Results have shown the level of engagement of the interactants from the gestural mechanisms and the relationship established with the linguistic mechanisms and, still, with the mechanisms of the gaze direction.
