Abstract

The socio-environmental mapping is a didactic and pedagogical tool of diagnosis, planning and action that promotes the participation of different social actors in searching to improve quality of life and promoting social learning. With the goal of building a socio-environmental vision at school, the methodology was used in an undergraduate training course on Geosciences and Environmental Education, Institute of Geosciences at USP. Focusing on the development of activities directed to (re)cognition of place /environment and its problems for a critical teacher training able to transform social and environmental reality. Environmental mapping use resulted in participatory, dialogic and interdisciplinary learning process, in which the methodology was appropriated by future teachers.
