Abstract

The The article aims to identify and discourse based on bibliographical research on the theoretical-epistemological aspects of information science and usability in their relevant conceptual interrelationships. It provides concepts of the philosophy of technology that considers technological knowledge as the advent of observations of phenomena involving technology and technological objects, products of human creation related to the notion of comfort and ease of task execution and requires subjective knowledge of the user. In this sense, the text justifies usability as an area of study that makes it possible to evaluate the human experience in the use of technological systems, considering aspects related to the user, the task accomplished by the user, the equipment used to achieve the objectives, the environment and the context of use and the product itself. In this process, the outcome of use needs to be measured on the basis of effectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction. As an interdisciplinary area, involving the interests of professionals from various branches of knowledge, usability and information science are complemented in studies involving the use of information technology.
