his study aimed at analyzing the teaching of students’ oral comprehension (OC) in Italian to students in the last year of a Letters cour-se with qualification in both Portuguese and Italian languages. It was given attention to the oral and visual input from textbook activities, teacher’s asks, and teacher talk in order to verify how they could influence the im-provement of students’ competence in OC. Classroom observations, diaries, audiotapes were used to gather data, as well as interviews with the teacher. We could observe that, in most situations, the input from textbooks is simu-lated and related only to unidirectional pedagogic tasks. On the other hand, the visual input is basically used to illustrate the textbook with no instructio-nal purposes. As for to teachers’ input, we could conclude that it is a com-prehensible input, usually part of the their facilitative talk, which is modified according to the students’ language level. It seems that this contributed to the improvement of students’ OC learning.Downloads
