Abstract

The study object of this article are some reflections on the criteria of identification and delimitation of neologisms of current language, of neonymies (scientific and technical neologisms). Neologisms are simultaneously a manifestation of the evolution of a language and the evolution of knowledge that happen at an extremely quick pace. The concept of neologic feeling” is now fundamental as a criterion for the identification of neologisms and neonymies. We emphasize the importance of Linguistics Corpora methodologies and of the hypertexts in the semiautomatic treatment of corpora for the extraction of neologisms. We also highlight the importance of the creation of Neology Observatories that allow the observation and the comparison of the neology phenomena of the Portuguese Language in several countries.
