Telicity is an aspectual semantic value characterized by the presence of a linguistically delimited endpoint in a sentence. This category can be expressed in different ways in languages. In this work, specifically, a literature review is carried out on the means by which telicity can be expressed linguistically in Portuguese, Spanish, English, Bulgarian, Dutch, Karitiana, Sateré-Mawé, Dâw and Japanese, with a view to formulating theoretical considerations on this semantic aspectual category. The results indicated that different factors can be considered to express this value, encompassing phonological, morphological and syntactic devices. It was argued that the data observed in this study corroborate the argument that telicity is information encoded in the computational system, resulting from the concatenation of the elements which compose the sentence and, therefore, has a different status than the other semantic aspect values, which are considered lexical features of the verb.
