Abstract

This work aims to demonstrate how different
communities of Brazilian Portuguese speakers and
indigenous languages of South America speakers register
historical and cultural aspects through nominations through
the functional metaphorical construction. are presented
Examples are presented, showing that these names have a
greater importance than its indexical function and warn to
the fact that the loss of these names entails the loss of
important historical and cultural knowledge, which can
result in loss of identity and values that are important to the
community of speakers.
