Abstract

Usually a role of historical causation has been attributed to the growth and development of the Macedonian Empire as the responsible for the disappearing of the Socratic philosophies in Athens and also for the emergence of the Hellenistic philosophies. So, in this paper we propose the deconstruction of such casual links to treat the historical factors that propitiate the Stoicism’s flourishing in the beginning of the Hellenistic period, as well as the Socratism’s disappearing.
