Abstract

This paper aims to criticize the notion of body impenetrability of Roman uir, predominantly stated by the Foucauldian History of Sexuality. Therefore, firstly, I will comment on the emergence of the History of Sexuality and its Foucauldian historiography. Furthermore, I will suggest a possible analysis to Petronius’s Satyrica ninth section, confronting it against the Foucauldian point of view. Hence, I intend to suggest another interpretation of Roman Male Homosexuality, a more complex one, not focused on uir normative discourses
