Abstract

This paper aims to map the quality of urban life in the city of Pouso Alegre – Minas Gerais. The adopted methodology consists in the elaboration of three indexes: environmental quality, socioeconomic index and education index, through the recovery system Estatcart and the Geographic Information System (GIS) ILWIS. Then, we combined these indexes for generating the synthetic map of quality of life. The results shows regions with higher levels of quality of life are also areas of the city's finest. Finally, it was possible to highlight the places where there is greater need for public investments.
