Abstract

The anthropic pressure is a result, in most cases, the lack of urban planning, which has resulted in the occupation disorganized and strong impact on natural resources. In this context, the aim of this study was to quantify the remaining natural forest in relation to the expansion of urbanization in the Pontal Parana county, coastal Paraná, Brazil. The data relating to population growth came from the 2000 census and 2010, provided by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics. The quantification of the remaining forest and the evolution of urbanization were performed by means of temporal analysis and satellite imagery Landsat5 for the years 2000 and 2010, scale 1:60000. Were used the ENVI 4.7 and ArGis10. The results showed population growth 46 percentage points and an increase 2.23 percentage point of the urbanized area between 2000 and 2010. It was concluded that the population growth occurred in this decade caused loss of native forest kind Dense Rain Forest lowlands, Restinga and Mangrove.
